Meridian Reflexology is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Japanese Zen Shiatsu approach to health. Meridian Reflexology uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concept of meridian energy pathways in the body. These are also represented on the feet.

There are 12 'classical' meridians in the body, which also have channels on the feet (based on the Zen Shiatsu approach of Shizuto Masunaga)-Most likely 7000 neurons connected to feet. Each of the meridians is either Yin or Yang.  All of the meridians are linked together as if in a 'network' through the body, and energy or ‘Chi( 氣)' is said to flow through them. An imbalance or blockage of ‘Chi (氣)’ in one meridian will upset the balance of all of the others.
